ICFAI University conducts Faculty Development Program for School Teachers on “Online Teaching”

A Faculty Development Program for School Principals and Senior Teachers on “Online Teaching and Learning” was organised by ICFAI University, Jharkhand, wherein over 130 Principals, Heads of Departments, Senior Teachers from various Schools and Junior Colleges from Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Orissa participated. 

Welcoming the participants to the program, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor, ICFAI University said, “COVID-19 Pandemic accelerated the shift to Digital Teaching-Learning. However, Technology-enabled Blended Learning model of learning has come to stay even in the new normal, post COVID. It is essential that all teachers deploy educational technology tools to ensure that classes are made more interesting and interactive for the students.” Narrating the experience of the ICFAI University in successful implementation of Swaadhyay Learning System, Prof Rao said, “Current situation is an opportunity for digital transformation of education to improve the quality of education and make it more inclusive. In the face of infrastructural challenges like internet bandwidth, appropriate technology needs to be used, depending on the local conditions. Besides , Faculty  Training and facilitation is the key for successful implementation”.

Sri Abhay Kumar Singh, Principal, Army Public School, Ranchi said “Current generations Students are tech savvy and enjoy learning through technology. I appreciate the initiative of the ICFAI University to conduct the Faculty development Program so as to prepare our teachers for digital teaching. I request the University to conduct more such programs for the teachers”.

Sri Anil Kumar Gupta, Founder-Principal, Crescent Public School, Bokaro said,  “Though Technology cannot replace a teacher, it can certainly help the teacher to engage the students better and ensure that learning is more effective. In this process, the teacher has to play the critical role of facilitator for learning by the students. Today’s training is very useful in that regard.”.

The program was conducted by Dr Sudipta Majumdar, Associate Professor of the ICFAI University, with technology support from Prof Shiv Shankar Shukla and Prof Amar Gupta.  Explaining how all the faculty members of the ICFAI University have been using educational technology tools like Mentimeter, Strawpoll and Quizziz, to make the classes participative and interesting, he demonstrated same to the participants how to use them .

All the participants were excited to see the live demonstrations and expressed their readiness to use the technology tools in their classes. Mr. Sumit Rathaur, Chief Manager, ICFAI Group Information Department, proposing a vote of thanks, said, “We are overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response from the Principals and HODs. Our University will be happy to share our experiences and conduct more such programs in future. ”. Prof. Arvind Kumar, Registrar, Dr. Bhagabat Barik, Asst. Dean, FMS and senior faculty members of the ICFAI University Jharkhand also participated in the program .
