CONSTITUTION DAY CELEBRATED AT THE ICFAI UNIVERSITY, JHARKHAND



Welcoming the audience to the function, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University said,” The Indian Constitution is not only the lengthiest Constitution in the World but also the most transformational one, as it embedded the vision of India to provide social and economic justice, with equality and liberty, to the citizens of the country, with the largest diversity of languages, cultures, religions, customs, case, race etc.” “Indian Constitution stood the test of time, which has seen dramatic socio-political-economic  changes, the credit for which goes to not only the authors of the constitution but also to the Judiciary“, added Prof Rao. He also highlights the purpose of establishing Legal Services Clinic at the University campus is to impart free legal aid to the nearby villagers and create awareness among them about the contemporary legal issues.   

71st Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) was celebrated at The ICFAI University, Jharkhand in memory of the Day on which Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.

Prof. Akriti Gupta, Faculty of Law administered the oath of Preamble of the Constitution of India to all the participants. Addressing the audience, Shri Ashutosh Anand, Additional Advocate General of Jharkhand, appreciated the efforts of the University in conducting a quality education and said,”Law is a way of Life and it is the only profession where you can hold your head high”. He exhorted the students to build awareness on legal aspects like rights and duties of the Citizens, among the illiterates.

A number of events were held on the day through video conferencing, which included the Moot Court, Parliamentary Debate, Nukkad Natak and Poster Presentation, in which the students participated with enthusiasm. The event has been adjudged by Panel of Judges Shri Girish Chandra Sinha, District Judges (Retd.), Jharkhand Judicial Services, Shri Pradeep Kumar Bhattacharya, Advocate, Vice-President, Dhanbad Bar Association, Dhanbad and Shri Abhishek Prasad, Secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Ranchi. The panel of judges highly appreciated the efforts and provided valuable guidance for the further improvement of Advocacy Skills. Syed Hozaifa adjudged as best speaker in Moot Court, team comprising of Syed Hozaifa, Fathma and Ashtha have been adjudged as the winner of Moot Court competition, Saurav Bhardwaj, Student of BBA, LLB of 2019 batch adjudged as best speaker in Parliamentary Debate and team comprising of Sidharth and Aditi has been adjudged as winner in Parliamentary Debate. Nukkad Natak and Poster Presentation expressed the Constitutional Values. Prof. Alok Kumar, Coordinator of Law programs at the University, other faculty members and students attended the program. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Alok Kumar, Faculty of Law of the University.
