Career Preparation Plans discussed with the Final Year students at ICFAI University

An interactive meeting of all the final year students of  the ICFAI University, Jharkhand was organized, wherein Career  Preparation Plans  were discussed and useful tips were provided by the Vice-Chancellor , Faculty Members, Industry Professionals , Entrepreneurs and Alumni.

Addressing the students, Prof. O.R.S. Rao, Vice Chancellor of the University said, “It is important that all of you should first decide on the Career that you want to pursue from among the alternatives of Job, Entrepreneurship and Higher Studies. After that please assess yourself your strengths and weaknesses and prepare yourself for the chosen career accordingly. Our University is committed to guide and help you to achieve your dreams.” “Besides efforts from our Corporate Relations and Placements Team, you can leverage the support from our Alumni that are in good positions in reputed companies like TCS,WIPRO, Hero Motors , Asian Paints, ITC etc  and also Successful Entrepreneur Alumni”, added Prof Rao.

As per the discussion, sectors that are hiring fresh graduates are IT, Healthcare and Automotive industry. Most of the recruitments are happening online and hence students must know, how to go through the recruitment process digitally. Alumni and Industry Managers advised the students to be strong in fundamental concepts and their application besides acquire problem solving skills. Students were also advised to pursue MOOC and certification programs in cutting-edge technologies. Alumni asked the students to leverage social media like Linked In for networking with corporates and be conversant with the happenings in the industry. Prof Arvind Kumar, Registrar explained to the students on how the University is planning to help the students in preparing for the various stages of recruitment process. Dr Bhagabat Barik, Asst Dean informed the students that the University has prepared question banks in various disciplines and is planning to conduct mock-written tests. Likewise, students will go through Mock Group discussions and personal Interviews and given feedback for improvement. Alumni of the University expressed their readiness to conduct mock personal interviews for the students. Prof Sumit Kumar sinha, faculty-in-charge , Corporate Relations and Placements informed the students that Corporate Talks by experienced managers from the industry are being arranged to cover developments in the industry, career opportunities and how to prepare themselves etc.
